Recombinant human DDC full-length is produced in E. coli. The protein consists of 480 amino acids and a C-terminal His6-tag.

Recombinant DDC is used for research in order to elucidate its precise mechanism of inactivation. The enzyme can also serve as standard in enzymatic and immunochemical assays or in Western Blot.
